About the role
This is a full‑time, on‑site missionary role based in Migori, Kenya. As the Missionary Volunteer Team Host, you will serve as the primary leader and point of support for all short‑term volunteer teams serving with KenyaRelief.org. You will coordinate, guide, and engage U.S. volunteer teams as they partner with the local community and ministries on our campus.
You will provide support for volunteers in their spiritual reflection and faith‑based activities, while creating a space that respects and honors diverse beliefs. Your goal is to ensure every volunteer feels welcomed and valued. Additionally, you will lead logistical planning and offer the cultural insights necessary for a meaningful, safe, and successful time of service in Kenya.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Lead and coordinate medical volunteer teams’ schedules and on-campus logistics.
Cross-Cultural Bridge: Facilitate communication between visiting teams and local staff.
Volunteer Support: Assist with team orientation, cultural context, and daily activity flow to ensure a respectful experience.
Logistical Coordination: Manage transportation, meals, lodging, and the on-campus gift shop in collaboration with staff.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proven experience in a relevant field such as missions, ministry, hospitality, community development, education, group leadership, or service among marginalized communities overseas.
Strong interpersonal and cross‑cultural relationship‑building skills.
Excellent organizational, communication, and decision‑making abilities.
Ability to prioritize, manage multiple responsibilities, and adapt to changing needs.
Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a consistently positive attitude.
Basic computer proficiency (Word or Google documents, email, internet).
Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑cultural and interdisciplinary teams.
Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of KenyaRelief.org.
Prior experience in international or mission‑based settings is an added advantage.
Demonstrated spiritual and emotional maturity, grounded in a well‑formed identity in Jesus Christ.
