The Bible tells us in James 1:27 “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world”. I have found this in Kenya Relief. In the past 8 years I have discovered so many things about the world and myself that is truly amazing.

So many scriptures have caught my attention during this time frame, scriptures that I had read before but were given new meaning by experiencing the “orphans & widows” and the “sick & hungry” of the world. Kenya Relief has given me the opportunity to be a part of an organization that is constantly looking for ways to actively demonstrate God’s word here on earth. It can give you that opportunity too. The Old Testament tells a story of a man named Jacob who wrestled with God.  Before surrendering to a call that would take me far away from my comfortable life, I too wrestled with God.  As He did with Jacob, God touched me and blessed my life forever.  Unlike the touch to Jacob’s hip that left a lifelong remembrance, God touch my heart, opened it wide and caused me fall in love with Kenya and the wonderful people who live there.   My six years of short-term missions to Migori Kenya have enriched my life more than words can express.
