the Legacy

the Hope

Ibrittneyn 1998, Brittney James sponsored a child in Kenya, Africa. When she tragically passed away in 2001, her father, Steve James Felt it only right to see his daughters work by going to Kenya to meet Brittney's sponsored child, Newton first-hand. Upon arriving and seeing the weak, the weary, the homeless and unhealthy, he was deeply moved by the situation. Steve, a Nurse Anesthetist from Cullman, Alabama, found he could help by way of donating old medical equipment and his services as a medical professional. It all grew from there. Who knew something so tragic would turn into joy for people across the world Steve and Greta James have created a legacy of hope in Kenyarelief.org.

In Kenya, HIV prevalence is high. Without change, 1/3 of all children will be orphaned.

• 1.3 million people live with HIV

• 1,000,000 children lose their parents to AIDS

• 150,000 children are infected with AIDS

• 80% receive no treatment

• 1/2 the population lack clean water and sanitation

• 1 in 4 people live on less than $1/day

• Life Expectancy: less than 60 years

The problem is real…..

..but so is the hope.

"All that it takes for evil to triumph is for men to do nothing.'

-Edmund Burke

steve1 The solution may seem overwhelming, but we at KenyaRelief.org believe that one person can make a difference. It started with one girl's faith expressed through love. Brittney heard the cries of the suffering and she acted. Now the way is for us to join together and put an end to this devastation.

Our mission is to partner with Kenyans to meet the needs of body, mind, and spirit.

"You must be compassionate just as your Father in heaven is compassionate."

-Luke 6:36

"Religion that our God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress."

-James 1:27

Our aim is to live out this mission and these verses.

Our hope is that you will find a way to help!
